About Us

Marlene Burk, Dipl ABT NCCAOM

Marlene is an acupuncture student at The Won Institute. She also provides Shiatsu and Thai Yoga treatments. In her past, she has worked in many small and large businesses, doing many different things. She helps organize PAVAP until she graduates, when she'll be ready to help treat.

Korben Perry

Korben is a graduate of The New England School of Acupuncture, where he received the Peter Faust Compassionate Healer Award for his graduating class. He is licensed in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Korben grew up in Indianapolis and lived in Boston for 15 years. He and his wife, artist Amy Walsh, made West Philadelphia home after
moving here so that she could attend PAFA. He keeps a blog at www.spiritgate.typepad.com. His Philadelphia Community Acupuncture Clinic is located at 701 S. 50th Street, Philadelphia, PA.

David Schiman M.Ac., Lic.Ac. Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM)

David is a graduate of the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now, Tai Sophia Institute) in Columbia, MD. David has been practicing for over 10 years, and recently moved to the Roxborough / Manayunk neighborhood to live near  family. David is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Pennsylvania (formerly Maryland and Delaware) and is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. David is also a clinical supervisor at The Won Institute Acupuncture School in Glenside, PA. David is married and has two kids. He is an avid cyclist, and also enjoys rehabbing houses. His Roxborough Community Acupuncture practice is located at 445 Lyceum Avenue, Roxborough (Philadelphia), PA.

Susan Bloch

Anna Beale

Anna Beale has worked in a wide variety of settings throughout Philadelphia as a community, family and small business mediator before focusing on acupuncture as another great, practical way to offer healing. She graduated from The Won Institute's first class in Acupuncture and is a state licensed acupuncturist through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her graduate training included mindfulness-based meditation, tuina, shiatsu, nutrition, and Tai Chi (which she studied in depth prior to school, obtaining brown belt status and demonstrating a sword form and other forms at the University Museum). She is currently deepening her study of local medicinal plants.

Doreen Lafferty M.Ac., OTR/L, NCTMB 

Doreen has gained over twenty years experience as an occupational therapist and massage therapist before graduating from The Won Institute for Graduate Studies Master of Acupuncture Studies program. Currently, she works at the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and in her private practice.
